Spiritual Leadership

It is amazing how a sermon on Sunday morning can trully speak to your heart. I had been thinking about some of the things that Pastor talked about this morning in the recent past, but had done nothing about it. This afternoon I was trying to think about who my spiritual leaders were and how I have emulated them.

It was then that I realized that a spiritual leader does not have to be someone that is older than you. Pastor talked about a leader being someone who teaches the word and lives it out in his or her own life. I understood that Elizabeth and I share a spiritual leader and mentor. Tyler. He has been a blessing in my life tremendously. I am definately way older than him and I have been a Christian for longer as well. I remember the camp when he came to know the Lord. It was a beautiful time, and God really had a work for him to do. He really showed me how to grow. I had not grown much in the Lord and had taken the path of least resistance since my coming to Christ. I had just said "Look isn't it wonderful that I am saved and will go to heaven", but I never worked at changing and growing. But then when I saw Tyler changing and growing, I realized that that is what a Christian should do. That is when I started changing. I have watched him grow and that is what I have emulated.

I pray that I can show others how to grow in Christ as well. May God bless us all with being a spiritual leader and mentor to someone. I know that it is a true blessing to see the youth listening on Wednesday when I teach, but it is infinitely greater when I see them acting out what they have heard and seen in my life and Tyler and Jake's lives. My prayer is that you will all be able to see others emulate you in following in Christ's footsteps.

I think I really need to work on remembering and trying to be like all the spiritual leaders. Even the ones I can hardly remember, like helpers in Awana,or something like that.
Thanks,
Rachel
